Hair Extensions have really taken off in a big way over the last couple of years [19 Aug 2011|11:39am]
Hair Extensions have really taken off in a big way over the last couple of years. In the past, they were generally restricted to celebrities and stars. Not any more. Many thousands of women are taking the plunge and getting lace wig done because it is a simple, painless way in which to radically enhance their looks. Just imagine; you can add on hair which has length, shine and bounce and is colored in whatever shade you want. Is it then any wonder that you now see so many women around you who have been through this procedure? Want to know a bit more? Let us tell you about some of the basics.

Hair Extensions, as we are sure you know, is a process by which additional hair is added on to your own natural crop with the help of one of three methods. The first of these methods is the clip-on variety where the extensions are clipped on to your original hair. The second method that is used is the Fusion System. Here, the old and the new hair are coated at the ends with adhesives and then fused together. This fusion can either be done by a "hot" method where a heated fusion tool is used or by a "cold' method when keratin-based polymer is utilized to bond the two types of hair together. And finally there is the Weave System where the hair extension is actually sewn into a person's natural hair.

So much for the methods of extension. Now let us focus on the two ways these methods are applied. One is with Individual Strands and the other is with Wefts. The Individual Strand Method involves selecting between 30-40 strands of the hair that you have chosen for the process and applying these to small sections of your real hair. The Weft method is one by which small batches of hair, held together at the top and flowing freely at the other end, is attached to your head. These Wefts can be made out of either real human hair or synthetic hair and may be hand-made or machine-made. The experts generally feel that the hand-made ones are superior. The Wefts match the color of your own hair and are indistinguishable once they are best full lace wigs inserted.
