The best ten concerns in regards to the iPad

What is the iPad, specifically? An improved iPhone? A lighter laptop? An exceptional eBook reader? Would you think "all from the above"? As Steve Jobs stated at the rollout: "Everybody uses a laptop and/or a smartphone. The query has arisen lately, is there room for any third category of device inside the middle?" The iPad is closest to becoming a RAMOS W17pro tablet pc, a category which exists but hasn't seriously taken off.

Can you seriously make telephone calls with it? That hasn't been demonstrated, although the iPad makes use of a version in the iPhone operating method and runs almost all iPhone apps. But developers have already been able to show a green bar that says "Touch to return to call" on the iPad emulator screen. Either Apple plans to create phone calls attainable, or that feature was left within the tablet's OS by mistake. The iCall VOIP app may also be capable of make VOIP calls over Wi-Fi, if not AT&T's 3G service. The iPad has no webcam, unlike the iPhone and MacBooks, so you can't use it for videoconferencing unless you attach an external webcam.

Will the iPad run Flash? Steve Jobs has called Flash slow, buggy and a security risk, but there are also reports Apple is working with Adobe. Flash would seem to be a must have for Apple to be capable of claim the iPad was the best web browsing device. But it is another feature which hasn't been demonstrated, and Apple seems not to want it. Meanwhile, competitors such as the Ezy Tablet PC use the ability to run Flash as one of their main selling points.

Is the iPad the best e-book reader? This seems to be one niche where the iPad has a good shot at being one in the best devices. The New York Times has written an app to produce it doable to subscribe to the paper and enjoy some enhances features around the iPad. There is a similar NYT program for the black and white screened Sony Daily Edition Reader. A black and white screen is OK for books and newspapers, but the iPad's 9.7-inch multitouch color show will make the iPad suitable for reading e-magazines. An e-book reader won't succeed unless you can get books for it, and Apple has some excellent sources. Apple's e-books app is called iBooks, you can use it to buy books from the iBookstore if you live in the United States. These books are within the industry-standard ePub format. Amazon has also just announced a Kindle app for the iPad, so you will have access to books from Amazon.com as well.
