Kindergartners at Los Ranchitos Elementary School were showered with pullover sweaters and matching beanies Monday sexy see through nightdress.
The Sweater Nanas of Green Valley adopted the school and provided 113 sweaters and beanies to each child who got to pick his or her own gift from among 150 sets that were on display in the cafeteria at the school, 2054 E. Ginter Road. Extra sets were left with Principal Linda Swango for kindergartners who might enroll during the school year.
Some children smiled, and others laughed. Some appeared shy when they tried on a sweater and beanie. Each piece comes with a tag from the Nanas that in part reads: "Knit with love ... Look good, be good, do good."
But for Destiny Valdez, 5, she asked: "Is it Christmas?" Destiny did not wait for an answer - she went ahead and picked a pink sweater and beanie that had a stripe design in yellow, orange and purple.
Troy Morgan, 5, picked a blue sweater and beanie with green, pink and yellow designs. "I like the colors," said the boy while running his fingers over the soft sweater.
"It will keep me warm," said Salem Rodriguez, 5, of her bright pink sweater. "This is nice," Salem said with a grin.
It is those smiles and reactions that keep the Sweater Nanas of Green Valley busy throughout the year knitting for kindergartners, said Bonnie Tozier, 71, who has been knitting for 57 years. "We feel so blessed being able to do this. The children make us feel very special," said Tozier. She said she joined the group 1 1/2 years ago because she believes in the work it does sheer demi unlined bra.
