British royals William and Kate beat them to the title
"For the most part, this is stuff that has been sitting here for a long time now." School administrators will preview all of the items up for sale before it goes to a rummage-style auction, scheduled for July 14.The wedding of the century it is not: British royals William and Kate beat them to the title. But this week's consummation of the decade-long courtship between Monaco's Prince Albert II and South African swimmer Charlene Wittstock is the biggest event in the pocket-sized principality in at least five decades. Not since 1956, when Prince Rainier III tied the knot with iconic Hollywood actress Grace Kelly, has there been a royal wedding in Monaco. So they're going big on this one. Some 3,500 people are expected at the royal palace on Saturday to watch Albert, 53, and the statuesque Wittstock, 33, exchange vows in a Catholic ceremony. A-list guests who have confirmed their attendance include French President Nicolas Sarkozy, British supermodel Naomi Campbell and a slew of European royals, but not the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who will be on an official visit to Canada at the time. For the world's second-smallest country after the Vatican State, the wedding is an opportunity to rejuvenate an image built around fast cars, yachts and roulette tables. During the next few days the commoner will be king in the French Riviera playground of the mega-rich and tax-shy. On Thursday night the citizenry will be entertained by perennial US rockers The Eagles at the local football stadium.
