Ed Hardy tattoo-inspired rolled up snow pants [23 Jul 2009|03:50pm]

TORONTO - From streets to slope, Ed Hardy covered a lot of terrain at its fall 2009 runway at Toronto fashion week last night.

Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier "Swim and Snow" show was a rock 'n' rollin good time as boys and babes with bikinis and 'boards were ready to hit the surf and slopes at Toronto's LG Fashion Week held at Nathan Phillips Square. The Ed Hardy tattoo-inspired designs were festooned on sleek monokinis, bikini bottoms, hoodies, baggy pants, tight boy shorts and puffy ski vests. (JACK BOLAND/SUN MEDIA)

The edgy line — designed by Christian Audigier and loved by celebrities from Paris Hilton to David Beckham — featured outfits for two opposing seasons, from European-styled glam monokinis, string bikinis and board shorts to quilted, fitted ski jackets and rolled up snow pants.
“There's snow that we ski in in the winter which melts, turn to water that we swim in in the summer,” said Roy Perlumter, CEO of Ed Hardy's Canadian distributor, Luxury Life Brand Inc.

He said he got the idea of blending swim and ski wear while driving in Montreal, when he saw snow melting into ice.
“I said, there we go, I can have my two favourite lines,” Perlmuter said.

The line, based on the work of Don Ed Hardy, known as the godfather of modern tattoos, featured rock 'n roll clothing, with other themes running throughout, such as the Japanese geisha girl or the tiger.

Their most popular theme, 'love kills slowly,'” was seen plastered to the tiny bikinis and ski wear.

Colours included green, purple, tan, black, pink, red and blue.

New to the line this year is a technique called sublimation, in which colours are painstakingly inserted into fabrics.

Launched in 2002, the Los Angeles line teamed with Audigier, a French designer and entrepreneur in 2004.

But far from resting on laurels, the Ed Hardy clothing line is said to expanding to include dresses in spring 2010.

Larry Kings of the world wear Ed hardy clothes [20 Jul 2009|10:34am]
Jon Gosselin has been showing off his wild side lately, sporting a wide range of hip Ed Hardy duds.

On June 4, he wore a $275 red sweatshirt while unpacking luggage outside his home in Wernersville Pa. Two days later - while taking 8-year-old twins Cara and Mady to see Disney's Up -- he donned a pair of $150 Ed Hardy jungle-inspired jeans (featuring two angry tigers on the rear).

"He seems to love our clothing," Tara Malia Gregory, the company's marketing director, tells Usmagazine.com.

Gregory tells Us the company's demographic is males, ages 16-30.

So what kind of message is Jon -- a 32-year-old father of 8 -- trying to send?

"People who wear our clothes are edgy and fashion-forward," she tells Us. "They're in tune with pop culture and they like to take risks."

While Jon has never showed a flair for fashion before (his typical attire: layered sweatshirts; see above photo), he may have an inner edginess that's never been shown on television, Gregory says. (Incidentally, Jon recently showed off a pierced left ear.)

"Dads wears our clothes; the Larry Kings of the world wear our clothes," she says.

It appears that Jon is paying to be chic.

"I'm not aware of any gifting to him," she said, adding that the clothes are likely not among the free perks he receives from his hit TLC show. "Celebs buy our stuff, too!"

Okay, so by now we've all seen the pictures of 'Jon and Kate Plus 8' star Jon Gosselin enjoying himself with what looks like a new girlfriend in St. Tropez as a guest of fashion designer Christian Audigier. According to E! Online, this public partying was to help build publicity for a new children's Ed Hardy Shirts line that Jon would help design and the Gosselin children would model.

That was yesterday. Today Christian's rep denied that he and Jon would be designing a children's clothing line together.

"Christian is absolutely not starting a kids' clothing line with Jon," a rep for Audigier tells Us. "As of right now, there is no clothing line in the works between them at all."

Could it be due to a negative reaction? I don't know, but Jon's rumored new girlfriend, Hailey Glassman, is reportedly feeling the heat of negative press coverage. She was so upset she chose not to go out last night.

a source tells Usmagazine.com of Glassman, who was arrested in 2005 for marijuana possession. She was upset tonight.
"U.S. press is all over stories about her being some party girl with a history of arrests,"
"I can't even imagine living under the scrutiny they're experiencing right now! Where are the publicists, media consultants, etc. who are supposed to advise people in these situations? "

Ed Hardy's attitude of Tattoos All the world [11 Jul 2009|01:10pm]
Looking for the next hot decorating trend?

Think ink.
Macy's

Macy's Ed Hardy 's tattoo-inspired Tiger bedding is available in white with blue embroidery or navy with white embroidery.

"Tattoos used to be associated with bikers and rockers," says tableware designer Jessica Rust, who introduced her Tattoo Collection of personalized plates, mugs, bowls and platters this month. "Now they're exploding in home decor, furniture and fashion."

Inspired by the popularity of television shows Miami Ink, LA Ink, Inked and Tattoo Highway, and the mainstream acceptance of tats (estimates are that as many as one in four people between the ages of 18 and 50 are tattooed), designers have introduced clothing, bedding, rugs, tables and accessories emblazoned with the patterns.

The new Tattoo Heart Collection from Christian Audigier features handbags with stylized heart tattoos decorated with the company's logo. Luxury leather-maker Coach included a $438 bag featuring the company's name surrounded by a tattoo-inspired border of flowers and leaves in its spring collection.

The hip Dana Hotel and Spa in Chicago hired tattoo artist Ami James, star of Miami Ink, to create tattoo-art "Do Not Disturb" door hangers. Kiki Smith's Tattoo line of engraved crystal vases and accessories made for Steuben sold out at stores across the country. Los Angeles ink man Paul Timman recently teamed up with Ink Dish Design to create a line of delicate blue-and-white porcelain plates inspired by classical Japanese tattoos. Even jewelry-maker-to-the-stars Harry Winston has several tattoo-inspired brooch designs.

Connecticut writer Karen Olson says the trend inspired her new Tattoo Shop Mysteries. Missing Ink, the first book in the series, will be released this month.

But ink on skin is permanent. Body-art-inspired accessories for the home allow consumers to have tats without the long-term commitment.

Ed Hardy, considered by many to be the godfather of the skin-art-to-fashion movement, was one of the first to put tattoo patterns on bedding and bath decor. His Home Collection, featuring comforters, duvets and sheets with retro skull, heart, animal and rose designs, is carried at Macy's and Bed, Bath & Beyond.

"The look is popular with hipsters," says Allan Gordon, president of Wholley Sheet, a Los Angeles company that markets the Ed Hardy Home Collection.

Rust, who worked with her shipping assistant Michael Mellstrom, a tattoo artist, to create her tableware, agrees.
"It's not really about age, it's about attitude. People who express themselves in a very individual way are drawn to tattoos."

Ed Hardy everything from jewelry, skateboards, chocolates, wine, water, vodka, and even air freshene [09 Jul 2009|11:12am]
Five! Four! Three! Two! One!

What took so long??

There is now word coming from Hollyweird that there will be a Michael Jackson clothing collection.

Christian Audigier - the man behind a gazillion bedazzled Ed Hardy shirts - has now decided to keep rocking and rolling with plans he had with the late King of Pop for a clothing line.

One assumes that the line he was rumored to be starting with pop tart Britney Spears will have to wait.

About Photo: Audigier was working with Jackson on stage costumes for the singer's much-ballyhooed London concerts. The two were close; MJ even showed up at Audigier's 50th birthday splash last year (as did Snoop Dog, Fergie and Pamela Anderson).

---------------------

  • Wait....it gets better (or worse depending on how you feel about this sort of thing): Audigier also announced - with nary a bit of shame - that he plans on buying the Bel Air mansion that Jackson was renting when he died and turning it into a museum for the Gloved One.

This issue is mentioned in my post published on Jul 1st in my blog. If you're interested in it , don't miss the post and take a look.

Widely considered one of the most meteoric rises in fashion history, Christian Audigier has parlayed his design experience and business acumen to become a true fashion icon and entrepreneurial sensation in less than four years. Through his collection of international companies, he has launched nine popular brands with over sixty licenses. He oversees an international conglomerate of his designer brands, including Ed Hardy Christian Audigier , SMET , Crystal Rock , most recently C-Bar-A , Savoir Faire , Evel Knievel , Rock Fabulous , and Paco Chicano ; this includes US and international wholesale distribution, as well as US and international retail stores. Christian made his mark throughout the fashion industry after a fortuitous start at MacKeen Jeans. He has contributed to successful brands such as Diesel, Fiorucci, Bisou Bisou, Levi, NafNaf and American Outfitters. Christian's style is so distinctive that he is known as the King of Jeans.

More recently, Christian threw his ingenuity behind Von Dutch , where he catapulted the brand from obscurity into a household name. He single handedly created several trends, including the now famous trucker hat trend which could be seen on everyone from college students to high-profile celebrities. Christian was responsible for putting Von Dutch on the map, thus paving the way for his next great enterprise.

In 2004, Christian left Von Dutch and proceeded to create and launch the wildly popular Ed Hardy brand. He was granted the exclusive rights to the designs of Don Ed Hardy, who is commonly referred to as the godfather of Tattoo. With Ed Hardy , Christian not only created a brand, but a lifestyle of street couture. Christian has built a fervent following for his Ed Hardy and the eponymous Christian Audigier brands. Celebrities such as Madonna, Britney Spears, and Kanye West, among others are frequently seen wearing his unique designs. His celebrity following includes more than 5,000 celebrities, athletes and musicians of all genres. In 2008, Christian announced his latest venture, When I Move You Move , the Trade Show, exclusively showcasing the entire family of Audigier brands. Included are the more than 60 licensees who produce everything from jewelry, skateboards, chocolates, wine, water, vodka, and even air fresheners.

Christian Audigier was born in the southern-French city of Avignon. In the last twenty years, Christian Audigier has become an icon in the world of fashion, working with names such as Diesel, Naf Naf and Von Dutch.

His celebrity clientele has a long list that includes Jessica Alba, Jamie Foxx, Brad Pitt, Paris Hilton, and Mariah Carey. His signature line, Christian Audigier, pays tribute to California culture.

"Godfather of Street Chic" Christian Audigier presented his runway show at the Mercedes-Benz LA Fashion Week Spring 2008 in the main tent at Smashbox Studios, Culver City, CA, Tuesday, 16 October 2007.

The designer added a special French twist to L.A. Fashion Week with his "La Vie en Rose" themed 2008 Spring Collection. Inspired by the United States' liberation of France in 1944.

Audigier's latest collection pays homage to the beauty of his French roots and the ingenuity of his adopted American homeland. The designer reflects that the influence of French and American style and sensibility upon each other's culture after the war can still be felt today in art, music, and, especially, fashion.

The much-anticipated show was reminiscent of 1940s France that incorporated architectural landmarks as part of the set, exploiting the visual appeal of men in uniforms, and reproducing the highly stylized looks of Marlene Dietrich and chanteuse Edith Piaf. The feel, including accentuated pencil-thin eyebrows, may be post-war, but the fashion was 100% modern.

"My collection," states Christian Audigier, "is based on a vision that celebrates the full spectrum and exuberance of today's American lifestyle culture, which includes rap, pop and rock 'n' roll."

Among others David Hasselhoff with his daughter, Brandy, Bai Ling, and chart-topping singer Bettina graced the front row during the show.

Michael Jackson's designer dream

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson was ''really excited'' about coming to London for his 50-date residency, designer Christian Audigier has revealed.

Michael Jackson "dreamed" of starting a clothing line.

The 50-year-old pop legend - who died after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest last Thursday (25.06.09) - was in the process of designing a collection with French fashion guru Christian Audigier when he passed away.

Referring to the comeback shows Michael was due to perform in London this month, Christian explained to BANG Showbiz: "I was working on merchandising with him and launching a new line of clothes, which was actually Michael's dream.

"A month-and-a-half ago I had a dinner at his house and he was in perfect shape and was really happy and excited to be coming to London and what has happened since then has been very sad."

The US-based designer - who launched his new range of champagne and fine wines in London last night (01.07.09) and is known for his Von Dutch and Ed Hardy collections - added Michael was planning to bring some of his own distinctive style to the range.

He explained: "It was based on various types of merchandising on different products, also accessories. What he wanted from me was the T-shirts and the hoodies and the caps. And it was very kind of royalist - kind of a mix of the real Michael Jackson and his alter-ego as the King of Pop."

Britney Spears to start a fashion line with “Ed Hardy” designer Christian Audigier [25 Jun 2009|09:10am]

Britney Spears to start a fashion line with “Ed Hardy” designer Christian Audigier

  • Britney Spears visited designer Christian Audigier’s corporate office at the “Ed Hardy” store in Los Angeles. According to insider reports, Spears was there to check out his new spring collection and to get a few gifts for Jamie Lynn. But she also had business plans in mind, as she wants to work on a new line with the high profile designer.

  • In related news, an executive producer for “How I Met Your Mother” recently confirmed that he’s open to having Britney Spears return for another cameo.

“We always said, ‘You know, if her character pops, we’ll bring her back,’” Carter Bays told The Associated Press on Thursday Ed Hardy shirts

. “I thought she was great. I was very proud of that episode.”

  • Honestly, who the world goes to the gym in an $120 Ed Hardy rhinestone black tiger t-shirt as just his throw over shirt?

… well, I bought five of them last Christmas, and I just can’t stop wearing them. Don’t hate me for it!!!

(See Britney Spears and I have something in common. Our love of Hustler Hollywood, fans of Rite-Aid … and yes,

It's the night you'd been waiting for. After several dates and increasingly flirty conversation, she's agreed to come back to your crib. The candles are lit, the wine is flowing, your "Gettin' the Booty" iPod playlist is working its way through the speakers, and after a few minutes of couch calisthenics she excuses herself to "get into something more comfortable." She comes back wearing significantly less than she had on before, and unveils her new ... Ed Hardy Intimates lingerie. Someone please cue the needle scratching across the record.

Would You Wear It?

It's bad enough you have to put up with the d-bag at the club wearing the matching Ed Hardy jeans, shirt, hat and belt, but now there's a chance your gal might be wearing this fashion abomination close to her nether regions. In fact, if the marketing brains behind Ed Hardy are looking for help with a slogan for their new line, here's a suggestion -- Ed Hardy Intimates: The Anti-Viagra.

Usually in this space we suggest events around Chicago that we think you should check out, but if nobody attends the Ed Hardy Intimates Fashion Show at Enclave on April 23, we won't be disappointed.

Better yet, maybe someone should organize a demonstration and picket in front of Enclave. Or, perhaps we can convince Steve Dahl to organize an Ed Hardy Clothing Demolition Night at the Cell.

...to Britney, Beyonce, Ashlee Simpson and Lindsay Lohan have donned these colorful, collage-inspired swimsuits. And granted, those ladies look great in Hardy's unusual garments. But I'm pretty sure I couldn't pull off an Ed Hardy ($168), and I'm actually not sure I'd want to. To be frank, I don't like these Ed Hardy pieces. Do you? We would love to hear what SheFinds readers think of these trucker-style suits.

Personally, I prefer a more demure Maya or Lisa Curran. Let us know your thoughts in our comments section below.

I am completely in love with Ed Hardy clothing and Ed Hardy swimwear which is my favorite. It's a real shame I can't rake in the bucks to afford to sport it but until I can afford it I'll have to make do with others sporting it. I really love the new Koy fish monokini it's so sweet. They all look great, I think Ed Hardy should sponsor a contest on Polyvore for the best 3 sets give away a gift card...hmmmmm. Maybe I'll e-mail him and throw him the idea, I've gotta have some Ed Hardy for myself!
